Gavin Friday, born Fionán Martin Hanvey on October 8, 1959, in Dublin, Ireland, is an eclectic artist known for his work in music, visual arts, and film. He gained prominence in the late 1970s as the frontman of the post-punk band The Virgin Prunes, recognized for their avant-garde performances and dark, theatrical style. The band disbanded in 1986 but left a lasting impact on the underground music scene.

Following the breakup, Friday embarked on a successful solo career, collaborating with pianist Maurice "The Man" Seezer, with notable albums like *Each Man Kills the Thing He Loves* (1989) and *Adam 'n' Eve* (1992), showcasing his distinctive baritone voice and storytelling ability.

In film, Friday and Seezer composed scores for projects like *In the Name of the Father* (1993) and contributing ‘Angel’ to *Romeo + Juliet* (1996).
