Marty Wilde is one of the true pioneers of British rock ’n’ roll — a singer, songwriter and performer whose career stretches back to the birth of UK pop culture in the late 1950s. Emerging alongside artists such as Cliff Richard and Billy Fury, Wilde became a teenage idol with hits including “Endless Sleep”, “Sea of Love”, “Bad Boy” and “A Teenager in Love”, helping define Britain’s first generation of rock stars. Over the decades he evolved from chart star to respected songwriter, penning hits not only for himself but also for artists including Kim Wilde, Status Quo, Lulu and Tom Jones. Music has always been central to the Wilde family story. Marty and his wife Joyce raised a remarkable musical dynasty, with children Kim Wilde, Ricky Wilde and Roxanne Wilde all becoming successful recording artists and performers in their own right. Marty famously co-wrote many of Kim Wilde’s biggest hits with Ricky, including the global smash “Kids in America”, while continuing to tour and record alongside his family for decades.
