Born on December 11, 1964, in Glasgow, Currie co-founded Del Amitri in the early 1980s by placing an advert in a music shop—kick-starting a band that would go on to release six studio albums between 1985 and 2002, achieve multiple Top-10 UK records, and ultimately sell over six million albums worldwide

Currie, who serves as the band’s primary vocalist, bassist, and chief songwriter, penned signature singles like "Nothing Ever Happens", which climbed to No. 11 in the UK, and the transatlantic hit "Roll to Me"—a Top-10 success in both Canada and the U.S.

After Del Amitri’s hiatus in the early 2000s, Justin ventured into a rich solo career. This feature reflects on Currie’s journey to fame and success, part two looks at the second half of his career.
